The Elk River Municipal Utilities reserves the right at any time to require the owner of the premises <br />supplied to furnish and install at his expense, and under the direction of the General Manager an <br />approved water meter and keep the same in accurate operating condition. <br />110 FIRE HYDRANT USE <br />It is unlawful for any person not an employee of the City authorized to do so; to use, operate, draw water <br />from or in any manner tamper or interfere with any fire hydrant, unless directly authorized by General <br />Manager. <br />In the case a fireman or other authorized person shall open any fire hydrant, the same shall be reported <br />to the General Manager immediately thereafter. <br />When hydrants are used for furnishing water for street sprinkling or flushing sewer mains, or flooding <br />skating rinks, a report must be made immediately thereafter to the General Manager, stating the time <br />and the number of hours the hydrant was used. <br />111 PLUMBING RULES <br />The right is reserved by Elk River Municipal Utilities to enforce the removal of any faucet, water closet, <br />stop cock, valve or other device of character that will cause or is liable to cause excessive shock to the <br />water pipes, waste of water, or pollution to the general or individual water supply. <br />Licensed plumbers and all others are forbidden to make any cross connection or physical connect on or <br />between the City water supply and that of any other source, including wells. <br />112 STREET EXCAVATION AND BACK FILL <br />All excavation shall comply with City Code and all other regulations of the City Building Department and <br />Elk River Municipal Utilities. Excavation requests from Gopher State One-Call phone # 1-800-252-1166 <br />shall be obtained prior to start of any work. <br />113 AIR CONDITIONING <br />These regulations will cover all apparatus or equipment installed for the purpose of changing the dry bulb <br />temperature or humidity content of the air, whether used in conjunction with summer comfort air <br />conditioning or other refrigeration. <br />The use of municipal water is prohibited when used directly from the mains as a cooling medium in air <br />washers or any type of equipment whereby the air to be conditioned comes into direct contact with <br />sprays or wet surfaces, or where the water is used as the direct or indirect cooling medium in coils. <br />All compressor type refrigeration units having standard rated capacities in accordance with conditions <br />given in Standard American Society of Refrigeration Engineers Testing and Rating Codes, of from 1 '/z to <br />10 tons may be equipped with water cooled condensers using water from the municipal water supply; <br />provided that not more than a total of 10 tons capacity so equipped may be installed in one air <br />conditioning or refrigerating system; and that they do not require more than one gallon per minute of <br />water per ton of capacity. Water shall be discharged into wastewater system and not back into the city <br />water system. <br />All compressor type refrigeration systems having standard rated capacities in accordance with <br />conditions given in Standard American Society of Refrigeration Engineers Testing and Rating Codes, of <br />10 tons or over shall be equipped with evaporative condensers, evaporative coolers and condensers, <br />water cooling towers, spray ponds or other water cooling equipment so that all water from the municipal <br />water supply is used for make-up purposes only. <br />15 <br />
