CITY OF ELK RIVER NOTICE OF REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS FOR ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES FOR LIBRARY EXPANSION PROJECT I. BACKGROUND: The City of Elk River has worked with Eos Architecture in the development of a project proposal for the public library expansion. This project proposal was completed in August, 1992. (See attachments.) In 1993, the City worked with Eos Architecture in the development of a concept design for the project expansion and in the preliminary project cost estimates. (See attachments.) II. SCOPE OF PROJECT: It is the goal of the City of Elk River to hire an architect for the library expansion project before the end of 1993, to break ground on the project in the spring/summer of 1994, and to have the project completed before winter, 1994. The library expansion project has a maximum budget (excluding FF&E) of $550,000 and calls for an expansion of approximately 4,100 square feet along with some renovations in part of the existing facility. III. PROPOSED FORMAT: Architectural firms submitting proposals for the library expansion project must provide information on the firm's experience and background in library construction, library expansions, and renovations. References are required along with a statement on the fees proposed for this project. Information is also required on the proposed level of service that will be provided by the architectural firm, from the point of hiring to the occupancy of the library expansion. A timetable should be submitted outlining target dates for the completion of the necessary steps for occupancy of the library expansion to take place before winter of 1994. This timetable should include the full range of architectural services from preliminary design work, production of construction documents, bidding of the project, and through construction administration. The City is especially interested in information related to construction administration including the anticipated number of meetings with the contractors, site visits, reports submitted to the City project manager, and updates to the Library Board.
