He then entered the family real estate business which he owned and operated for eight years. During this period of time he returned to complete his college education. He also worked nights at General Electric and also owned a catering business for six years called 'Smokin Brothers Ribs' which he eventfully sold in 1991. While completing his graduate degree he worked for DeKalb County Government as an Administrative Intern to the County Administrator. His duties included working with zoning changes, assisting the clerk's office, creating a property tax manual, and represented the County on the Economic Development Commission.
