Dr. Richard Rothaus presented <br />the report to the City Council on June 7, 2004. This project will be featured at the <br />Preservation Conference in St. Cloud on September 23 & 24, 2004. There will also be an <br />article in the magazine "Minnesota Archaeology". <br />The second part of the project has begun and many items have been recovered on the <br />surface at the Houlton property. <br />MOVED BY COMMISSIONER LUNDBERG AND SECONDED BY <br />COMMISSIONER GONGOLL TO ACCEPT THE REPORT. MOTION <br />CARRIED 6-0. <br />6. Ut~date on 2004 SHPO Grant <br />The grant has been approved. HPC Chair Cindy Olson signed the Agreement. <br />Discuss May 8 "Archaeolog~~ Dam <br />According to Commissioner Olson: "It was a blast!" Commissioner Pouti suggested that <br />next year the schools be informed and possibly discuss it with teachers to be a requirement <br />to attend. It was also suggested that it should be hosted at a more visible location. <br />Commissioner Olson will write thank you letters to First National Bank and GRE Printing <br />for the photos that were displayed at downtown businesses the week of the event. <br />8. Discuss Establishing Local Historic Districts <br />Commissioner Kragness provided the Committee with information on establishing a local <br />historic district. It was suggested that this be brought up with Michele McPherson, Director <br />of Planning. <br />Discuss HPC Attendance at Historic Preservation Conference in St. Cloud on September 23 <br />and 24; 2004 <br />Steve informed the Committee that it is important for all to attend the Conference since Elk <br />River's project will be highlighted. <br />10. Discuss Arrow Building Center Redevelopment Conceit <br />Steve informed the Committee that this project has been withdrawn. <br />11. Budget Report <br />The HPC discussed the budget and decided to increase the amount of money for <br />subscriptions to $700 for a total of $9,700. <br />MOVED BY COMMISSIONER LUNDBERG AND SECONDED BY <br />COMMISSIONER DWYER TO APPROVE THE BUDGET. MOTION CARRIED <br />6-0. <br />12. Discuss City of Elk River's 2004 Oxcart Membership in Sherburne County Historical Society <br />The Committee discussed whether or not to continue this membership and it was decided <br />that they would. This is the highest level of support to the Sherburne County Historical <br />Society for on-going operations. <br />
