A portable asphalt plant will also be included in the operation. <br />Approximately 500,000 cubic yards of material will be mined from approximately 14.81 <br />acres of the 66.06 acre site. The gravel mined will be processed on Site or hauled to a <br />local asphalt facility located approximately ¼-mile south of the Site. At the conclusion <br />of mining, the site will be returned to agr/cultural use or developed as residential <br />property. <br /> <br />Give a complete description of the proposed project, and related new construction. <br />Attach additional sheets as necessary. Emphasize construction, operation methods <br />and features that will cause physical manipulation of the environment or will <br />produce wastes. Include modifications to existing equipment or industrial processes <br />and significant demolition, removal or remodeling of existing structures. Indicate <br />the timing and duration of construction activities. <br /> <br />Schrnidt Gravel Mining (Schmidt) will propose through the submittal of a conditional use <br />permit application to the City of Elk River (the City) to mine gravel and operate a <br />portable asphalt plant on an approximate 66.06 acre site in the northern portion of Elk <br />River (the Site). The location of the Site is illustrated on Figures 1 and 2 in Attachment <br />A. The proposed gravel mining location is situated on two private properties owned by <br />Schmidt. The aerial extent of the mining is approximately 14.81 acres and the proposed <br />duration of the mining is 10 years. <br /> <br />The gravel mining operation will include mining, processing, stockpiling, and hauling of <br />gravel to construction and road project sites.
