The Racial Disparity Initiative is a comprehensive study of racial disparities throughout <br /> Minnesota's criminal justice system, which will also examine the extent to which those disparities inflict <br /> direct and indirect costs on offenders, families, businesses, and communities. The solutions reached <br /> under this initiative would be shared throughout Minnesota and across the nation. <br /> ~n Radio Board Radios <br /> The Metropolitan Counc-~s Metropolitan Radio Board will receive $1.5 million to purchase radios for law <br /> enforcement agencies to better communicate with one another. In the wake of September 11th, it was <br /> clear that coordinated radio communications are of the utmost importance in responding successfully to <br /> any large-scale incident that crosses iurisdictional boundaries and this funding will bring the Twin Cities <br /> metropolitan area closer towards that'goal. The Preschool is a multicultural therapeutic preschool <br /> program with support services for inner-city children and their families. The preschool's programs help <br /> children overcome generational and cultural gaps that may hinder their ability to learn and be prepared to <br /> start school. <br /> 34. Jewish Family a~nd Childr___~en's Service, St. Louis Park, Golde, l Valle_y_~Hopkins <br /> Sabo included $1.1 million in program funding and facility rehabilitation for Jewish Fam}ly and Children's <br /> Service of Minneapolis to develop a new concept in service delivery to seniors living in Naturally <br /> Occurring Retirement Communities (NORC) housing. SFNC provides intensive, therapeutic early childhood education <br />services, conducts home visits focusing on disciplinary techniques and family support, and offers support <br />for fathers and male caregivers to families in the Phillips neighborhood of South Minneapolis. <br />The Phillips neighborhood is home to the second largest urban American Indian population in the nation. <br /> <br /> <br />
