have little impact on revenues because of the number of customers served by this rate.
4) We continue to work at bringing the large commercial rate more into line with rates
offered by area utilities but we still remain higher than others included in the study.
However, reducing it further will have a significant negative impact on paying off
existing bonds and maintaining a reasonable reserve.
5) The Dual Fuel rate was increased from $.044/kWh to $.048/kWh to reflect a similar
increase in the wholesale rate. The ETS (Energy Storage) rate remains unchanged.
6) Wind Power rate is decreased from $1.90 to $1.00 per 100 kWh block to more align
with other area utilities. It also reflects a reduction in the wholesale rate for wind.
7) The water rate remains unchanged but the fixed monthly charge was increased from
$6.50 to $7.50 per last month's discussion.
8) The imgation meters are currently used for five months annually and we bill $17.00
per month for all 12 months. This is cumbersome for billing so we are recommending
a monthly fee of $40 for the 5 months the meter is used. This fee reflects a neutral
impact on revenues.
9) Medical Alerts billed though the County has resulted in additional administrative work
for ERMU personnel. In discussion with the County, they would rather see ERMU
continue to administer the program and increase fees rather than take on those
responsibilities themselves so we are proposing an additional administrative fee of
$10.00 per month for these devices billed though the County.
10) The Alarm Net (cell phone) rate we are charged from Wright-Hennepin has increased
and also required changing out components on all systems utilizing this service. The
increase to $24.00 reflects our increased cost related to offering this service.
As in the past, we will place ads in the Star News informing our customers of these electric
and water rate changes.
