April 4, 1996

Dear Planning Commission,

I am requesting a conditional use permit to open a hair salon in my home. I will be the
sole owner and operator. I will be open by appointment only. M.~ approximate hours
will be 9:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m. Monday thru Thursday and some Saturdays 9:00 a.m.-1:00
p.m. I am requesting to work out of my home so that I can be home to get my children
off to school and be there when they get home. With the rising costs of daycare for three
children it has not been real profitable to work outside the home. I have 14 years of
experience as a cosmetologist and am currently working part time at McLearls Hairstylist
in Rogers, MN. I feel with the declining family structures in this world it is important for
me to be able to have the flexibility, of working at home to meet the needs of my family.

We have an existing class 5 gravel driveway going to the back of the house. There is
enough parking for 2 vehicles and a cement sidewalk leading to the salon entrance. The
salon will be located in the basement of our home. It will be wheel chair accessible and
has a bathroom for salon use. There will be only one styling chair, one shampoo sink and
chair, one hair dryer, one supply closet and one utility sink. There will be doors shutting
off the salon from the living quarters. There is one window that is large enough to meet a
fire exit requirement. There will be a fire extinguisher, smoke detector and first aid kit in
the salon, if you have any other questions or concerns please call me at 441-4706.

Sincerely,

Diane Bistodeau
