J/
Elk River -^:
Municipal Utilities
13069 Orono Parkway • P.O. Box 430
Elk River, MN 55330-0430
September 29, 2008
To: Elk River Municipal Utilities Commission
Jerry Takle
John Dietz
Jerry Gumphrey
From: Bryan Adams
Subject: Electric Department Job Restructuring
Phone: 763.441.2020
Fax: 763.441.8099
At the last Elk River Municipal Utilities commission meeting, the attached sheet was discussed
reflecting the proposed workload redistribution within the electric department. This restructuring
was brought to this commission first before talking to the affected employees to head off any
perception of retaliation due to the ongoing internal investigations. The reason for this
restructuring is to balance the workload to accommodate due to the lack of new development as
we are doing substantially more maintenance and less expansion.
Your staff has discussed this proposed shifting of duties with the affected parties particularly
with Mike Thiry who is proposed to assume his former duties as a lead lineman. Mike Thiry
understands the need for this change and felt it unnecessary to appear before this commission.
We have started the necessary cross training to allow Mike to transfer his current duties to other
employees.
