PAUL <br /> <br />WASECA <br /> <br />A few weeks ago, Councilmember Dietz asked me to investigate the cost of installing a <br />pedestrian railing on the south side of the Main Street Bridge. I believe this was in <br />response to a concern by Mr. Doug Dill regarding pedestrians on the south side of the <br />bridge. As you are aware, there are no pedestrian facilities on the south side of the <br />bridge. The sidewalk is located on the north side; therefore, no railing was installed along <br />the south side. <br /> <br />We contacted National Steel Fabricators and requested a price to both fabricate a matching <br />railing for the south side and to install it. The ballpark prices that we were provided with <br />are $45.00 per linear foot to fabricate railing and an installation cost of $30.00 per linear <br />foot. The total bridge length is 275 feet, which results in a total cost for railing on the <br />south side of the bridge of approximately $21,000. <br /> <br />I gave this information to Councilmember Dietz by phone.
