LSSOC 1 ~t 77:.5, <br />/\C. <br />Dui ,! ,,. <br />October 10, 2008 <br />Mr. Tim Anderly <br />FPI Paving Contractors <br />3230 Rice St <br />Saint Paul, MN 55126 <br />RE: RFP for Constriction <br />Widening of Book Drop Off Lane <br />Elk River Library <br />13020 Orono Parkway <br />Elk River, MN 55330 <br />Dear Tim, <br />_q,.%~ <br />On behalf of the City of Elk River, we are soliciting proposals to widen the existing book drop off lane at the <br />new Elk River Library in Elk River, MN. In general, the project will include widening the existing bituminous <br />entrance approach to the book drop off. The area is generally flat and is currently turf grass. There are 2 <br />decorative electrical bollards, irrigation heads and valves, and a traffic sign in the turf area that will require <br />relocation to allow for the additional pavement. You will need to include this work in your bid. <br />We request you provide a lump sum proposal for the following work: <br />1. Locating all utilities prior to construction. <br />2. Surveying and site layout of proposed work. <br />3. Stripping and removing vegetation and stripping topsoil for reuse on site (export topsoil as <br />required). <br />4. Relocation. and constriction of the irrigation system to account for the widened bituminous area. <br />5. Relocation and construction of 2 decorative electrical bollards to account for the widened <br />bituminous area. <br />6. Relocation of an existing traffic sign. <br />7. Grading, excavating and subgrade preparation for the widened bituminous area. <br />8. Exporting /importing of all materials necessary to complete the work (must be included in your <br />lump sum proposal). <br />9. Construction of bituminous pavement. Refer to the attached drawings and specifications for <br />requirements. <br />10. Grading requirements: In general, proposed grading shall match existing grades. All areas shall <br />be graded to drain. <br />11. Construction of anon-electrical bollard adjacent to the existing building. <br />12. Topsoil respreading and sodding. <br />13. Site restoration and cleanup. <br />Attached you will find abbreviated specifications for the above work. Please reference these when preparing <br />your proposal. <br />Your proposal shall assume that all work will be complete this fall, however, the exact dates for construction <br />will need to be coordinated with the City and with Library staff. Should construction be pushed to the <br />following calendar year, you will be allowed to adjust your proposal accordingly. <br />
