This recommendation has been included in the agenda <br />for the June 19th Council meeting. Rainbow, Inc., however, has advised us in a letter <br />dated June 14, 1995 (attached) that they have misinterpreted the bidding documents and <br />CIVILENGINEERING underestimated the project cost. Due to the significant cost difference from their original <br />ENNRONMENTAL bid price, Rainbow, Inc., requested to withdraw their original bid. In addition, the <br />MUNICIPAL Contractor resubmitted a bid based on a different paint system which, aS they suggested, <br />PIANNING could accomplish the same purpose aS the paint system we specified. The revised bid price <br />D WASTE of their paint system is $20, 350 (compared to their original bid prices of $12,210 without <br />UO1~` staining and $19,610 with staining). The paint system suggested by the Contractor needs <br />SURVEYING to be evaluated and discussed with Mr. Darrell Mack. The City could retain the <br />TRAFFIC <br />Contractor's hid bond and re-advertise the project, or accept the Contractor's suggested <br />TRANSPORTATION <br />paint system by way of a change order. <br />ELECTRICAUMECHANICAL <br />ENGRJEER~NG: Please bring this issue to the attention of Mr. HIaers.
