<br />The City Council of the City of
<br />Elk River does h~reby ordain as
<br />follows:
<br />Section LSection.' 2-232 (a)

<br />read as follows:
<br />Sec. 2-232. ~erllbership; Officers;
<br />Compensation of Members;
<br />Training Courses.
<br />(a) The park and recreation com.-
<br />mission shall consist of seven

<br />council for, tei1ns of three ,yelp;S,
<br />each. All terms s~ end on the
<br />last day, of February; however,
<br />commissioners' shall' hold office
<br />until their successors have been
<br />appointed. The terms of the meJIl~

<br />more than tlu:ee teJ."Ills of office
<br />shall e:gpire at one ,time. All
<br />apPOintments shall be made by the
<br />city council and a vacancy shall be
<br />filled by the' city council for the
<br />remainder of the term. Officers of
<br />the park and recreation conunis-,
<br />sion sh,all consist of. chair, vice-
<br />chair and secretary. The, chair
<br />shall preside at all meetings of the
<br />cOIIlIIlission if present; and per-
<br />form all other dutieS'andfunctions
<br />assigned, by the commission or the
<br />city collrici1. The, vice-chair sh,all
<br />perfotn1theseduties in absence of
<br />the chair. If a vacancY occurs in the
<br />chair office, the vice,-chair shall
<br />assUIIle the chair's duties for the
<br />remainder. of the year ,'and a' new
<br />vice-chair shall be elected by the
<br />commission at the next scheduled
<br />commission meeting. A quorum
<br />shall consist ofa majority of the
<br />sitting members. It is expected
<br />that a preference be given to Elk
<br />River residents, but residl,}ncy by
<br />itself shall not be a disqualifica-
<br />tion.
<br />Section 2. That this ordinanCE!
<br />shall take effect- uPO!l publication
<br />as provided by law.
