LIBRARY BOARD MINUTES <br />AUGUST 25, 2008 <br />ELK RIVER PUBLIC LIBRARY <br />Mick Stoffers, Karen Stelk, John Dietz, Mike Hangaard, Jayne Dietz, Ann Schroeder, Joan Allen <br />from GRRL and Nick Zerwas City Council Liaison were in attendance. Leslie Erickson was our <br />Guest, former Board Member. <br />Meeting was called to order at 6:30pm. <br />A quorum was established. <br />Janet from Mocha's To Go presented a graph showing sales by hour. It is not profitable to be open <br />past 5pm. A motion was made and a second to approve closing the coffee cart at 5pm. <br />The agenda, treasurer's and secretary's report were reviewed, a motion and second were made to <br />approve all. It was stated that we are looking for a new cleaning service. Then we would have a part <br />time maintenance person. <br />Librarian's Report and Old Business: <br />*Mick was able to obtain asub-contractors list. <br />*Doors in the Community Room were re-keyed and they are coming back to fix the leak. <br />*Concerning the lawn care bill brought up at last month's meeting. Mick talked to Tim Simon about <br />the expenditure. It is for one month, includes fertilization, mowing and trimming. <br />*Mick called the cabinet company concerning -cutting down the front counter so the filing cabinets <br />fit properly, adding drawer extensions, finishing trim on the slatwall, putting fridge were it belongs, <br />building a cabinet around exposed pipes. An estimate of $766.00 was given to do all repairs. A <br />motion and a second were made for approval of the cost. <br />*Ballasts have been installed on the tables in the reference area. There is a bad switch on one table <br />and are missing the channel for the cables. Called the manufacturer, waiting to hear back. <br />*Patio is completed. <br />*Still exploring options for the fireplace insert. <br />*Terry Mauer is putting together a plan and cost estimate for improving the drive thru book drop. <br />New Business: <br />*GRRL has installed all new Internet Stations with Flat Screen Monitors. Thanks to the Friends of <br />the Library a new circulation terminal was installed in the workroom. There are only enough voice <br />lines for one more Internet station. <br />*Mick will check on where we stand with our LEED certification. <br />*679 kids in the summer reading program. <br />*An aerial shot of the library was presented; the board had previously expressed an interest in <br />purchasing one. A motion was made and a second to approve $300 to purchase the photo. <br />*We need additional bike racks for next summer. <br />Meeting adjourned at 7:15pm <br />Next meeting on 9/23 <br />
