State of Minnesota Per Capita Taxable Retail Sales 8r;
Threshold Levels for Selected Goods and Services
2006
Threshold level refers to the number of people per business ,which can be used as a general guide for determining the "critical mass"
necessary to support a business. These are broad averages for the state as a whole and do not reflect differences in income, tourism,
agglomeration, establishment, etc. Further, the business counts are based on the number of sales tax returns filed and are converted to'Yull-
time equivalents." Multiplying people per business by sales per capita yields average sales per firm. In addttion to state averages,
averages for the non-metropolttan regions were calculated by excluding the seven county Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolttan region.
