ITEM # 5.1. <br />c <br />fiver <br />MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Housing & Redevelopment Authority L, <br />FROM: Heidi Steinmetz, Assistant Director of Economic Development ~ l <br />DATE: August I , 2005 <br />SUBJECT: Consider Contribution Toward Relocation of Flag Pole <br />Attachment <br />• Quote from Electro Mechanical Contracting, Inc. to relocate flag pole <br />Background <br />Following the HRA's review and comments, the Council approved the transfer of the flag pole to <br />the school district at its June 6``' meeting. At its June 6`'' meeting the HRA indicated a willingness to <br />consider contributing toward the cost of relocating the flag pole in order to keep it in the downtown <br />area. <br />Issue <br />The attached quote in the amount of $8,335 was recently received from Electro Mechanical <br />Contracting, Inc. for the relocation of the flag pole to the edge of the school district and King <br />Avenue parking lot property. The school district will be responsible for ongoing maintenance of the <br />flag and pole. The school district will also be responsible for installing lighting for the flag. <br />The flag pole will not be relocated from the Jackson Square property until the city has completed <br />closing on the transfer of the Jackson property to MetroPlains. The closing is anticipated to occur <br />by the end of August upon MetroPlains completing the contingencies outlined in the Development <br />Agreement. <br />Recommendation <br />Staff recommends that the HRA consider contributing toward the relocation of the flag pole in the <br />amount of $8,335. <br />
