<br />million in projects in 2007 and is on
<br />track to surpass the $12 million goal
<br />for 2008. Brown says- one azea of _'
<br />growth can be in government agencies,
<br />where knowledge of the bureaucratic
<br />system is vital.. For example, in his
<br />career he has worked on projects for
<br />the Minnesota State Colleges and Uni-
<br />versities. It was a relationship he did-
<br />n't want to jeopardize; so he waited
<br />until the company reorganization was
<br />stabilized, then approached the agency
<br />again. "I didn't want to go until I had
<br />a story to tell," he says.
<br />It's true that the construction cycle
<br />lags behind the economy, so next yeaz
<br />could be worse than this. The partners
<br />aze working hard to stay ahead of that
<br />curve., knowing there are no guaran-
<br />tees their luck will hold.
<br />The lessons from Terra aze textbook

<br />finances, know your strengths; know '
<br />your market. Still reading a case study
<br />isn't the same as living it.
<br />And there's one measure of success
<br />that isn't in the textbooks, Brown says.
<br />That's being able to work with tom-~
<br />munities and people he's known all his
<br />life. Giving up the.eommute is just a
<br />bonus. -
<br />"I took my wife to lunch the other.
<br />day," Brown says, smiling. "I've never
<br />been able to do. that."
