2/12/96

Potential community uses / opportunities associated w! MSF proposal

Assuming availability: Mon.- Thurs. daytime and evenings, Friday daytime use, &Sunday evenings.

The following was developed to demonstrate a wide range of leisure time opportunities for all, that such a facility could
host asw well. Though this list is quite comprehensiv~it does at this time lack some detail that would be required in
carrying many of them through.

~ Daytime senior citizen programming (work w/Sr. Center coordinator)
~ Daytime Parent / Tot opportunities ( work w/ECFE program
~ Industrial leagues ( for 2nd & 3rd shift personnel)
- After school programming for school ages ( transportation component required ) may well fit into plans for new
initiatives plan expected for implementation in fall of '96
~ Indoor walking / running area and possible In-line skating (could be designed to allow use during any other events
taking place, MSF or community)
- open gyms (various ages)
~ indoor soccer
~ youth bb practices (some after school, some evening)
- youth vb (some after school, some evening)
- Adult VB
- Adult BB
- sports camps / clinics / leagues *could also offer general non atheltic day camp programming
~ Non-athletic events / programming / special events (penny carnivals, etc.)
~ non-school day events ( if possible, open on school cancellation days for open gym )
- family open gym time / events
- HS aged bb and vb leagues (Intramurals)
~ various other modified leagues, Ex. 3 vs 3 bb, 4 vs 4 vb
~ archery range
- concerts
~ trade/craft shows
- intergenerational activities / programs
- parent / child programming
- challenge course / rock wall - (possible for business team building excercises)
- Adaptive recreationalopportunities
~ youth rec. hall / lounge. Which could house any or all of the following: table tannis, dart boards, variuos video arcade
type machines, variuos board games chess, backgammon, etc, (This could be designed to serve MSF clientele as well,
w/adjacent concessions)
-indoor batting cage and golf cage area
~ all night lock-ins for youth on special occasions such as evemings of non-school days
- shuffle board, bocce space (would require design)

* several existing youth associations would also benefit from additional gym use, but they currently do not pay for any
routine use for conducting their local program. Some travel teams / leagues do pay for gym rent currently w/district
facilities, they would also benefit fr: additional gym space. Understanding that these association programs are valuable to
the community, time and space should also be valued for providing other leisure time activites as suggested above that
would reach out to a more broad range of users / benefactors.

** Other considerations: (These would require additional construction / design in addition to what the MSF is proposing)
- Fitness area *Caution of competing w/private sector. Could develop partnership with those current service providers)
~ aerobic studio Same caution as above
~ indoor pool
~ indoor tennis
- racquetball
~ theatre, community meeting space (conferences, etc. )
· expanded gym space for increased community need and or MSF program needs. Logical that same need would occur
simultaneously
-Ice rink ( even modified in size to accommodate practices, skating lessons and other open skating and public use
programs

- meeting space for youth associations, storage as well
