West, Fire Chief <br />DATE: June 16, 2008 <br />SUBJECT: CenterPoint Energy Community Partnership Grant <br />Presentation <br />The Elk River Fire Department was notified of a successfu12008 Community Partnership <br />Grant for $2,500 to purchase safety and emergency response equipment. The Elk River Fire <br />Department submitted a giant fox two self contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) air <br />cylinder class II fill stations. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and OSHA <br />have made significant changes in the guidelines for SCBA fill containment. The use of the <br />fill containment systems is to ensure safe refill operation of SCBA air cylinders after use at a <br />fire scene. <br />I have enclosed for your review the Class II fill station containment system that will be <br />purchased from North Shore Compressor for the use at Station #1 and Station #2. Our <br />successful grant of $2,500 will help off-set the overall equipment special project cost of <br />$6,990. The remaining funds will come from the sale of two used Thunder Beam sirens to <br />the City of St. Augusta and from safety funding. <br />Total Project Cost: $6,990 <br />$(2,500) Center Point Energy Community Partnership Grant <br />$(4,000) sale of used sirens to the City of St. Augusta <br />$( 490) safety funds <br />The Elk River Fire Department would like to thank Center Point Energy and their <br />Community Partnership Grant program for the opportunity to receive $2,500 to be used <br />toward our class II fill containment project for both Station #1 and Station #2. <br />Scott Darsie from Center Point Energy will be in attendance at the June 16 City Council <br />meeting to present a check for $2,500 from the Community Partnership Grant program. I <br />will also be present at the meeting to answer any questions that the Mayor and City Council <br />may have. <br />
