PURPOSE OF EXTRACTION: <br /> <br /> The purpose of Straightlines' operation is to mine and process sand <br />and gravel for Elk River Landfill, Inc. for Barton Sand and Gravel. Bartons' <br />resale of this material is used not only by contractors for commerical projects but <br />also for state and local highway projects as well. <br /> <br />E. ESTIMATION OF EXTRACTION/RECLAMATION COMPLETION: <br /> <br /> Elk River Landfill, Inc. began mining at this site in 1972. Estimates <br />are that there is 20-30 years of additional mining potential at this site. <br />Straightline will continue to mine this site as long as Elk River Landfill Inc. <br />requires landfill space or as long as there is gravel to mine. The current <br />extraction rate for this site is 350,000 tons of material per year. <br /> <br /> The interim reclamation process which follows the current extraction <br />is the utilization of the mined hole as a licensed/permitted mixed municipal solid <br />waste sanitary landfill facility. <br /> <br />3 <br /> <br /> <br />
