APPUCA TION TO THE CITY OF ELK RIVER <br /> BY <br /> S TRAIGHTENE EXCA VA TION, INC. <br /> FOR: <br /> A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT <br /> USED FOR <br /> MINING AND PROCESSING <br /> A T THE <br /> ELK RIVER LANDFILL, INC. <br /> GRAVEL SITE <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION: <br /> <br /> Straightline Excavation, Inc., currently mines gravel for Elk River Landfill, <br />Inc., in its' pit leased by Barton Sand and Gravel and is located in the northern <br />most portion of the City of Elk River, Elk River, Minnesota. (See Site Location <br />Map, Page 6). This site has been an active gravel mine for 22+ years. In <br />compliance with City code as well as consistent with requirements of the Elk <br />River Mining District Overlay, Straightline Excavation, Inc., is applying for a <br />Conditional Use Permit to mine and process gravel at the Elk River Landfill site. <br /> <br />The Elk River Landfill site is included in the Elk River Gravel Mining District as <br />well as being zoned as part of the Solid Waste Overlay District. This mining site <br />comprises approximately 86 acres. Mining activities consist of gravel removal <br />and crushing. These materials are extracted and processed by Straightline <br />Excavation, Inc., for Elk River Landfill, Inc., and then sold by the licensee, <br />Barton Sand and Gravel. <br /> <br /> <br />
