OF

Minnesota Department of Transportation

District 3
1991 Industrial Park Road
Baxter, MN 56425

February 28, 2002

Tel: 218/828-2460
Fax: 218/828-2210
Toll Free: 1/800/657-3971

Honorable Stephanie Klinzing
City of Elk River Mayor
10511 NW 209th Avenue
Elk River, MN 55330

Dear Mayor Klinzing:

On February 22, 2002, the Region 7W Transportation Policy Board (TPB) met to review the rank-
ordered list of locally sponsored transportation projects seeking FY 2005 federal funding
recommended by its transportation advisory committee.

The TPB selected the project to revise the TH 10 Main Street (MSAS 113) intersection and install
turn lanes for further federal funding consideration by the Central Minnesota Area Transportation
Partnership (ATP). The total cost of your project was estimated to be $/~o~,291. The TPB agreed to
approve federal funding in the amount of $338,632 to the ATP. Th~ will require a local match of
$84,659.

The TPB directed me to contact all successful applicants to ensure commitment of the local funds
necessary to match the federal funds approved by the TPB. Therefore, I am asking your governing
body to take action committing to the federal funds approved by the TPB. Since the TPB caps the
federal funding for locally sponsored programmed projects, your governing body must acknowledge
and agree to any additional costs required for the project's completion.

Please forward your governing body's resolution of commitment to me by Friday, March 29, 2002,
so the ATP may consider your project for programming. You may contact me at (218) 828-2471 if
you have any questions regarding this request.

Sincerely,

District Planning Director

cc:
Kelvin Howieson - Mn/DOT Baxter
Terry Maurer - City of Elk River Engineer
Mary Safgren - Mn/DOT Baxter
Region 7W TPB
