Year in Review <br /> <br />Department Activities <br /> <br /> · Administer Special Programs and Projects- Drag and alcohol testing program for <br /> commercial drivers, computer training, census, redistricting, and city logo clothing <br /> orders. <br /> · Boards a~d Commissions- Maintain board and commission rosters, notify <br /> members of term expirations, and organize process for reappointment and <br /> appointment of new members. <br /> · Ci.tv Code Co&'~caffon- Update the code to reflect ordinance amendments. <br /> · CledcalSuppott- Provide support to city departments in the form of word <br /> processing, transcription, copying, filing, office supplies, fumimxe and equipment, <br /> mail, scheduling meetings, and phones. <br /> · Elections- Organize and supervise all details of local, state, and national elections. <br /> Employee Recog~dtion- An annual program to recognize employees for their <br /> service to the city with special recognition given for every five years of service. <br /> · La'censin~xr- Parking stickers, burning permits, animal licensing, gopher bounty, <br /> transient merchant, tobacco, liquor, charitable gambling, mechanical amusement, and <br /> therapeutic massage licensing. <br /> · Meeting Packets - Transcription, word-processing, copying, and assembly of <br /> meeting packets such as City Council, HR_A, and EDA. <br /> · Minutes - Record and transcribe minutes of the City Council, HRA, EDA, and Park <br /> and Recreation Commission. <br /> · Records- Records are kept organized through the city's record retention program <br /> and minutes are indexed through search and retrieval software. <br /> · Volunteer Recognition Pro_~ram- An annual program to show support and <br /> appreciation to citizens who serve on city boards and commissions. <br /> <br />Public Relations/Communications <br /> <br />· Cable TV- ERtV 12 is the city's local government channel. Most city meetings are <br /> aired live on the channel and also played back at different times during the week. The <br /> channel also provides information to the public through programs such as the Fire <br /> Chief's Comer, Crime Time, Community Calendar, Special Events, the Mayor's Show, <br /> and the McPherson Report. <br />· Community Residents Guide- A joint project with the City and Chamber of <br /> Commerce working together with Prime Advertising. The Guide provides residents <br /> and businesses with information about Elk River and serves as a guide to community <br /> and government services. The Guide is delivered once a year to all residents and <br /> businesses in the city. <br /> ~nside Ci_~de"-This newsletter is published by the Secretary/Receptionist and <br /> is distributed to all city employees. The newsletter is used to introduce new employees, <br /> offer congratulations on special occasions, promote issues such as CAER drives, <br /> exercise challenges, and employee luncheons. <br /> <br /> <br />
