Participation in the recycling program by future residents of the site will be expected <br />to reduce costs for solid waste trucking and disposal. The City contracts the disposal of non- <br />recycled waste in the project area. Two haulers truck the waste to the Elk River Refuse Derived <br />Fuel (RDF) facility, where the waste is sorted and combustible waste is used for power <br />generation. All non-recyclable waste that is rejected by the RDF facility is deposited in the Elk <br />River Landfill. <br /> <br />Identify any' tox'ic or hazardous materials to be used or present at the site and ident(~: measures to be used <br />to prevent them from contaminating ground~vater. If the use of toxic or hazardous materials Mil &ad to a <br />regulated waste, discharge or emission, discuss any' alternatives considered to minimize or eliminate the <br />waste, discharge or emission. <br /> <br />No known hazardous materials are currently located on the site. No toxic or hazardous materials <br />other than vehicle fuels, household cleaners, and lawn care pesticides are expected to be used <br />on the project site in the future. Groundwater contamination is not expected to result from project <br />con'struction or post-development conditions. <br /> <br />c) Indicate the number, location, size and use of any above or below ground tanks to store petroleum products <br /> or other materials, ~rcept water. Describe and emergency response containment plans. <br /> <br />Underground Storage Tanks (USTs) will be used west of Tyler Street for the storage of gasoline <br />at the proposed convenience centedfuel station. The number, location, and size of USTs are not <br />yet known. USTs will be installed and registered according to MPCA regulations and guidelines. <br /> <br />21.
