Elk River Downtown Commercial Area
Property Description and Significance

Address: 709-711 Main Street
PIN: 75-405-0515
SHPO Inventory #: SH-ERC-049
Historic Name:
Current Name: Daddy O's
Builder ! Contractor:.
Original Owner/Tenant:
Architect/Source:
Date of Original Construction: ca. 1911
Date of Survey: March 2002
Prepared by: Carole Zellie / Landscape Research
Photo: 17
Property Number:. 17

Description

This appears to be one. of five stores in a one-story brick block that occupies Lots 3 and 4
of Block 5. All have been extensively remodeled with false fronts of various types. This
property has been re-clad with wood siding and a modem display window.

Significance

This building has no historic integrity, although it is possible that a portion of the
original facade survives behind the modernizations. The building under the facade
alterations was reportedly built in 1911, after an earlier fire that destroyed this section of
the block.

Elk River Historic Contexts and Phase II Downtown Commercial Area Study
85
