West, Fire Chief <br />Item Description Reviewed by <br />Request to Attend 2008 International Association of Fire Chiefs Tim Simon, Finance Director <br />Conference in Denver, Colorado Reviewed by <br /> Lori ohnson, Ci Adxninistxatox <br />Action Requested <br />Rgqucsting Council approval fox attending the 2008 Fire Rescue International in Denver, Colorado. <br />Background/Discussion <br />I am requesting Council approval to attend the 2008 International Association of Fire Chiefs Fire Rescue <br />International in Denver, Colorado from August 13, 2008 through August 17, 2008. The International <br />Association of Fite Chiefs hosts annually a series of pre-conference workshops, conference symposiums, <br />education keynote speakers, fire rescue international general sessions, and a large expo featuring vendors <br />and equipment covering such things as apparatus, firefighter safety, training and education, and <br />technology updates. <br />There axe many leadership sessions and educational opportunities featured each day from Wednesday, <br />August 13 through Saturday, August 16. I have included a sampling of training and education sessions as <br />an attachment. 'The International Association of Fixe Chiefs not only provides education sessions that <br />axe designed to provide skills, knowledge, and expertise to tackle any situation we may face, but also the <br />opportunity to view the latest products and innovations in the fire sen=ice. This years leadership <br />symposium offers many opportunities on leadership, mentoxship, ethical challenges in the 21" century= <br />and a featured speaker I{chin Cochran, City of Atlanta Fire Chief, presenting "All fox One, One fox All". <br />Financial Impact <br />$ 1,500.00 is included as part of the 2008 training budget fox the Fixe Department.
