INFORMI~TION
Rivers Edge Meeting Minutes for Wednesday, December 12, 2007
The meeting was called to order at 8AM in the Chamber of Commerce Meeting Room. In
attendance were: Stephanie Albin, Jim Rudolph, Dave Rymanowski, Roger Hebeisen,
Donna Busch, Sandi Yeado, Jeff Gongoll, Wendy Simenson, Fred McCoy, Patti Hipsag,
Marcy VanValkenburg
Treasurers Report: Jim reported that there is $2384.56 in the treasury.
Secretary's Report: Minutes were accepted (Jeff moved, Dave Seconded)
Old Business:
City Update: Cathy was not able to attend this meeting. We discussed how we need to
have the electricity to the boulevard trees available to light up the trees earlier. The power
wasn't on to the trees until after thanksgiving weekend and then it went off and had to be
reset again. Someone remembered that there used to be wreaths and ribbons on the light
poles and possibly even holiday banners. We need to find out if any of that is around still
and/or if the city has any inclination to help support sprucing up the downtown more
during the holidays. We need to work on a plan for decorating downtown for the holidays
earlier next year.
Santa Downtown Dec 15th: Stephanie Albin with the Park and Rec Department came to
introduce herself and talk about plans for the open house. Park and Rec will bring hay
bales for people to sit on. Stephanie is planning to be at the RiversEdge Commons park
during the day to coordinate the activities. She will bring a speaker system to play music
in the park. The Command Performance Choir will sing inside and outside if it is not too
cold. Most of the downtown businesses will have things going on that day. There was an
insert in the paper today, sponsored by First National Financial Services, which listed all
of the events and promotions taking place in businesses. Wendy will make copies of the
events list for the businesses so that we can point out what's happening at other
businesses to people when they come into the stores. We had talked about Mochas-to-go
being by the River and having a fire going outside to keep warm by but Mochas to go
isn't available that day and Park and Rec was worried about the logistics and safety of
having a fire so that won't be happening.
New Business:
The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 AM
