Authorize Hiring Process for the Economic Development Assistant Position <br />Ms. Johnson presented the staff report. She pointed out the few changes to some <br />terminology in the position description, as well as adding the requirement of having a valid <br />driver's license. Ms. Johnson recommended advertising the position through the League of <br />Minnesota Cities as well as EDAM and Elk River Star News, with the hopes of having the <br />position filled by late spring. <br />Councilmember Motin expressed concern with the position's pay grade being at seven. He <br />stated he would like to see this position filled with someone who has fairly minimal <br />experience and feels the salary seems too high fox this type of experience. He recommended <br />the position should fall into pay grade six. <br />Ms. Johnson stated pay grade six would place the position at $41,530 to $51,912. • <br />MOVED BY COUNCILMEMBER MOTIN AND SECONDED BY <br />COUNCILMEMBER FARBER TO AUTHORIZE THE HIRING PROCESS FOR <br />THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANT POSITION AT A PAY <br />GRADE SIX. MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br />5.3. Authorize I-Tiring Process for the Commu it; Development Director Position <br />Ms. Johnson presented the staff report, stating the position description remains unchanged. <br />She would like to allow plenty of time for applicants to submit their application materials. <br />She stated it would be advertised with the League of Minnesota Cities, EDAIvl, and Elk <br />River Staz News. The interview process would need to be finalized sometime in the neaz <br />future to detertnine which council and staff should be available for interviews. <br />MOVED BY COUNCILMEMBER ZERWAS AND SECONDED BY <br />COUNCILMEMBER GUMPHREY TO AUTHORIZE THE HIRING PROCESS <br />FOR THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR POSITION. MOTION <br />CARRIED 5-0. <br />5.4. Discuss Council Workse ion Agendas <br />Ms. Johnson discussed the agendas for the February 11 and March 10 Worksessions. She <br />added Terry Maurer, Public Works Director, will give a legislative update at the February 11 • <br />Worksession. <br />
