Mary P. Ratelle, FSA, MAAA <br />Health Care Consultant and Actuary <br />Over the past 23 years, Mary has been a health and welfare actuary and consultant. <br />She has experience in managing the risks of health care plans/insurers, health care <br />providers and self-funded employers for their medical, prescription drug, dental and <br />vision benefits. Her consulting experience includes product design, experience <br />analysis and trend forecasting, pricing, underwriting, administration, management <br />reporting, risk modeling, contribution strategies, provider reimbursement strategies, <br />small group reform, and financial reporting. <br />Mary has significant experience in the senior market (Medicare). This work includes Self- <br />funded Employer Retiree Plans, Medicare Supplement, Medicare Select and Medicare <br />Advantage products. Specific work related to experience analysis, plan design, <br />estimates of impact of Medicare program changes, pricing strategies, and regulatory <br />filings. Mary has worked with both employers and health plans in evaluating the new <br />Medicare prescription drug plan and is qualified to provide the actuarial attestation for the <br />retiree drug subsidy from CMS. <br />Mary is involved in actuarial and health care professional associations and was <br />recently a member of the Health Section Council of the Society of Actuaries and <br />member of the steering committee of the Minnesota Risk Adjustment Users Group. <br />Mary is a speaker at Society of Actuaries and other healthcare industry association <br />meetings. <br />Mary is a graduate of Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa with a Bachelors of Arts <br />degree in mathematics.
