County Ditch #10 Continued ..... Page 2 question, to be the Maintenance of the branches of Ditch No. 10 used for this drainage. On the west side of Highway169, the drainage will basically follow the Highway 169 ditch. Anew culvert has been placed under the Burlington Northern Railroad tracks noted in the location labeled No. 1 on the attached map. From the railroad tracks to the river, drainage facilities have been recently upgraded and staff does not anticipate maintenance being much of an issue in the future. Immediately south of Main Street there is a short portion of open County ditch that will have to be maintained clear of obstructions. That portion of the County ditch runs across Mr. Earl Hohlen's property. Staff is working with Mr. Hohlen and others on obtaining easements to re-route this portion of ditch. If successful, this branch of County Ditch No. 10 can be abandoned. Until then, the County will remain the ditch authority and it will be the City's responsibility for maintenance as directed by the County. On the east side of Highway 169, from the Burlington Northern railroad tracks north, the County ditch is an open ditch. Again, it will be the City's responsibility to keep this portion of open ditch clear of obstructions. The culvert under the Burlington Northern railroad tracks for this branch (noted in location No. 2 on the attached map), will need to be enlarged when further development happens north of this area and drainage warrants. Enlarging this culvert will be the City's responsibility. From the Burlington Northern tracks south to the river, the drainage facilities have been recently upgraded and staff does not anticipate major maintenance issues. Again, the County will remain .the ditch authority and determine what maintenance is needed. It will be the City's responsibility to accomplish that maintenance. • outletsRJbz
