Agenda Section Public Works Meeting Date December 17, 2007 Prepared by Ter Maurer, Public Works Director Item Description Consider Resolution Accepting Bid and Authorizing Execution Reviewed by Lori ohnson, Ci Administrator of Contract in the Matter of the Wastewater Treatment Plant Reviewed by Phase II Improvement Action Requested Adoption of the attached resolution accepting the bid of Gridor Construction, Inc. and authorizing the execution of the contract for the Wastewater Treatment Plant Phase II Improvement. Background/Discussion In August, the City Council authorized plans for the Phase II Improvements at the W~UTP. The major components of the project include a new building with a mercury reduction filter, a new garage stall to house the existing jet truck, replacement of the ultraviolet treatment equipment and standby generation to run the entire plant, along with other minor miscellaneous improvements. The original estimate including a 15 percent contingency was $4.3 million. The low bid received by Gridor Construction, Inc. was $3,594,700. There were a total of nine bids received. The following table lists the bidders and the total bid amount. Therefore, we are prepared to recommend award to them as the lowest responsible bidder. Financial Impact The total project cost including engineering (approximately $680,000) and project contingency ($180,000) is $4,454,700 (excluding yet to be determined building permit cost). The total project cost will be funded by existing sewer reserves which have been accumulated over the years from Sewer Availability Charges (SAC) payments.
