REQUEST FOR ACTION
fiver
To Item Number
Ci Council 6.5.
Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by
Administration December 3, 2007 Ter Maurer, Public Works Director
Item Description Reviewed by
Adoption of Resolution Ordering Plans and Specifications for
the Replacement of Lighting along TH 10 in Downtown Reviewed by
Action Requested
Adoption of the attached resolution ordering the preparation of plans and specifications for the
replacement of the TH 10 lighting through the downtown area.
Background/Discussion
According to Agreement 62187 entered into between the City of Elk River and. MnDOT in July, 1984,
the City of Elk River is responsible for the replacement of the lighting along the highway corridor in the
downtown area. The lighting has deteriorated to the point where it is now in need of replacement.
MnDOT has indicated that it will consider participating in the funding through the local initiative
process. If funding is available, it will be capped at 25% of the project cost, or $50,000 whichever is less.
Given the condition of the lighting, replacement of it was programmed for 2008 in the street's CIP.
Financial Impact
The anticipated cost is approximately $100,000 with MnDOT paying an estimated 25% leaving
approximately $75,000 of construction costs plus overhead for the city to fund. As indicated above, the
money has been programmed in the 2008 street's CIP and is anticipated to come from the general fund.
Attachments
^ Resolution ordering plans and specifications
Action Motion by Second by Vote
Follow Up
C:\Documents and Settings\tmaurer\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\OI,K78\Resolution approving plans and specs TH 10 lighting.doc
