Item # 5.5. <br />fiver <br />MEMORANDUM <br />TO: City Council <br />FROM: Lori Johnson, City Administrator <br />DATE: November 5, 2007 <br />SUBJECT: Post Office Update <br />As you know, the Postal Service has informed us that they are proceeding with expanding <br />operations in Elk River. At this time, those expansion plans include remodeling the existing <br />facility, leasing retail space, and selling the property located at Line Avenue and County Road <br />12. As part of this process, the Postal Service will hold a public meeting to inform residents <br />of the process and to get input on the project. Garry Mattox, the Postal Service Real Estate <br />Specialist serving this area, had originally intended to hold that public meeting as part of a <br />presentation at a City Council meeting; however, his travel schedule does not fit with <br />Council meeting dates in November. Instead, he will be holding a public meeting at 6:00 <br />p.m. on Wednesday, November 14, 2007, at the Elk River Library, 13020 Orono Parkway, to <br />discuss the process and allow the public to speak. <br />Attached is preliminary information from Mr. Mattox about this project. The Council is not <br />required to attend this meeting; however, a notice of quorum was prepared in case all five <br />Council members attend the meeting. <br />
