Gty Council Minutes <br />September 4, 2007 <br />Page 4 <br />Ms. Johnson addressed the question regazding the training budget for the Re«eation • <br />division. She stated the $3,000 proposed is for Tonga Love to attend schooling to receive a <br />project management certificate as recommended by Parks and Re«eation Director Bill <br />Maertz. Mr. Maertz provided a memo indicating that the program has been revised and the <br />price is now $1,890. Therefore, the re«eation training budget could be reduced by $1,100. <br />Council agreed to keep the training in the budget at $1,900. <br />Ms. Johnson continued discussion on the tax levy and tax rate. She handed out the <br />prelitninary.2007 Tax Values from the Sherburne County Auditor/Treasurer. Since the <br />County Assessor's estimated net tax capadty (NTC) in«ease exceeded the original estimate, <br />the proposed budget can be funded well within the estimated NTC assuming the same tax <br />rate as last yeaz. She explained that based on the budget as proposed and the current NTC <br />estimate, the tax rate would de«ease from last peaz's rate of 43.056 to approximately 42.517. <br />Afret tonight's changes aze made to the budget, the tax rate would change slightly. She asked <br />for further direction from the Council on the tax levy so the levy resolution can be prepared <br />for adoption on September 11. The Council agreed to proceed with the preliminary tax levy <br />as discussed with the minor changes approved tonight. <br />Counahnembet Morin asked the couacil to think about projects or azeas the HRA can be <br />focusing on now that the downtown study has been put on hold. <br />10.
