One of the conditions suggested by staff
and the HPC was that some treatment should be introduced to the east wing of the church, to visually
break up the large roof in that area: #4.Consideration of Historic Preservation recommendation.

During the City Council meeting, the church offered testimony that they did not wish to include a peak
roof tteatment, as suggested by the HPC, but they would incorporate some windows to the structure to
tie the original church and the new fellowship hall together.

The church has submitted their building permit, with the only change being the addition of wood louvers
on the west side of the building (facing Rush Street). These windows attempt to tie the two building
portions together.

The Council, in their approval motion, agreed to the four conditions as presented by staff in their staff
report, including condition #4 referring the HPC recommendation but did not specifically address the
church's suggested option. Staff desires clarification before issuing the building permit.

Attachments
. Architectural plans dated July 23, 2007
. Architectural Plans dated August 22, 2007
.
