Mehelich, Catherine

From:
Sent:
To:
Cc:

ane Ba hkbabeoek@yahoo.com]
onday, August 07 10:49 AM
e Ie, a enne
Leeseberg, Chris; Clark, Scott; John E Babcock; Ifarber; jgumphrey; sklinzing; pmotin; Nick
Zerwas
Clarification of Removing Babcock Property/Trail System from Redevelopment Plans

Subject:

Kathy,

As per your request, here is the clarification of our request to remove Our property as a
trail site/park as laid out in the current the "Mississippi Connections Redevelopment
Framework Draft Land Use Plan":

The Draft Land Use Plan, as it was presented in the July 6th, 2007 mailing to
stakeholders, makes use of our property for a trail system that would bring the public
behind our neighborhood and link our property to the Lake Orono dam and to downtown.

We do not support this planned trail. Furthermore, we are not interested in selling our
land or allowing for
any public access through our land.

We respectfully request that our property be completely eliminated from consideration in
the "Mississippi Connections Redevelopment Framework Land Use Plan".

This includes removal of any reference to our land as being used as a trail site/park in
the "illustratives", "narratives", PowerPoint presentations, "maps", "20 Year Visions" and
anything else that would be part of the "Mississippi Connections" redevelopment plan for
the "greater downtown area", which was geographically defined as the core downtown in
addition to 400 acres of the surrounding area.

We request that this matter be considered by the volunteer Task Force members at the
upcoming Task Force meeting scheduled for August 13th, 2007.

If our property appears on any city redevelopment maps, we do not want any trails, parks
or public access to be marked on it. We do not wish to have our land designated as ~Open
Space", a more accurate label for our land is private property.

Hopefully this will clarify our position for you Kathy, any other questions, feel free to
call me or John.

Sincerely,
Nancy Babcock

John Babcock

Take the Internet to Go: Yahoo!Go puts the Internet in your pocket: mail, news, photos &
more.
http://mobile.yahoo,com/go?refer=lGNXIC

1
