Item #3.7.

MEMORANDUM

TO: Mayor and City Council
Terry Maurer, City Engineer ,....~

FROM:

DATE: August 6, 2007

SUBJECT: TH 169 Resolution Indicating Chosen Alternatives

I have been contacted by Craig Robinson, MnDOT's Project Manager for the 1H 169
Corridor. He has asked that the resolution the City Council has been considering regarding
the chosen alternatives for the various interchanges along 1H 169 be held until late
September or early October. The reason for Craig's request is he is having their consultant,
the SRF Group, perform additional analysis on the Main Street/School Street options.
These further analyses are due to the questions and issues that were raised as the folded
diamond and center point interchange options at Main Street were discussed relative to
access to adjacent properties. Mr. Robinson felt it was important to do the more detailed
analysis to provide answers to the various questions that were raised regarding access and the
operation of the two different interchanges. Mr. Robinson indicated that this delay in
presenting the resolution to the Council will not hold up the overall study, as the consultant
will be able to begin environmental studies and geometric layouts for the northern
interchanges within Elk River.

When Mr. Robinson indicates that their analysis is complete, we will schedule this item for a
future city Council meeting.

S:\EngineerImprovProj\2007 Improvement Projects\ TH 169 Study\07 06 07 CC memo.doc
