<br /> <br />REQUEST FOR ACTION <br /> <br />To <br />Ci Council <br />Agenda Section <br />Consent <br />Item Description <br />Authorization to Hire Police Receptionist <br /> <br />Meeting Date <br />ul 2, 2007 <br /> <br /> <br />Action Requested <br />The police department is requesting permission to hire Marci Springsteen as police receptionist. <br /> <br />Background/Discussion <br />Julie Splettstoesser resigned from the police receptionist position on May 9, 2007 and authorization from <br />the Council was given to advertise for a replacement on May 14. After the advertising process, interviews <br />were conducted, and the candidate selected has completed our background phase and is eligible to start <br />employment. <br /> <br />Marci Springsteen is currendy an employee with the Minnesota Association of Townships, and is highly <br />skilled and very capable of assuming the duties of this departmental assignment. We are anxious to have <br />her start her employment with our department. Marci would start her employment with the City of Elk <br />River on July 16, 2007. <br /> <br />Financial Impact <br />This is a budgeted position, and the candidate will start at step A of pay grade III ($14.39) which is far <br />below the wage that Julie was at ($19.18). In addition to this savings, the position has been vacant for <br />almost two-months. The total savings for this replacement including the two months where the position <br />was vacant is $11,100 through the end of this fiscal year.
