We received quotes from Elk <br />River Ford and Saxon Motors. <br /> <br />The quote from Elk River Ford was for a 1995 Ford Crown victoria <br />police package squad car per our specifications; the Elk River <br />Ford's quote was for $16,175.50 (Sixteen thousand, one hundred and <br />seventy-five dollars and fifty cents) . <br /> <br />The quote from Saxon Motors was for a 1995 Chevrolet Caprice sedan <br />police package squad car per our specif ications; Saxon Motors' <br />quote was for $17,180.00 (Seventeen thousand, one hundred and <br />eighty dollars). <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />I also received information on the Hennepin County Purchasing Coop <br />Bid for squad cars which was awarded to superior Ford for 1995 Ford <br />Crown victorias at a purchase price of $16,520.00 (Sixteen <br />thousand, five hundred and twenty dollars) per vehicle. <br /> <br />The above quotes are all between $2,000 - $3,000 higher than what <br />was budgeted for police vehicles for 1995. The reason this <br />happened is because Ford Motor Company reduced the concession for <br />police vehicles this year. In the past, we have somewhat relied on <br />local dealers for ball park figures for budgeting purposes. <br />However, as they always indicate, it is strictly a "best guess" <br />figure. In the future, we will have to estimate higher to avoid <br />this problem. <br /> <br />The Elk River Ford quote was less than Saxon Motors and Hennepin <br />County Purchasing Coop. I am, therefore, requesting authorization <br />to purchase three (3) 1995 Ford Crown victorias from Elk River Ford <br />at the quoted price of $16,175.50 per vehicle.
