Box 490 <br />13065 Orono Parkway <br />Elk River, MN 55330 <br /> <br />RE: WCA Replacement Plan - Riverside Development, <br />Hillside Estates, Elk River, Sherburne County <br /> <br />Dear Mr. Schmitz: <br /> <br />In regards to the development of Hillside Estates, our comments from the Division of Waters of <br />DNRare as follows: <br /> <br />According to the Replacement Plan, the wetland to be created will have a bottom, elevation <br />similar to an adjacent wetland. Elevations on both wetlands should be documented. Also, the <br />created wetland must be dug deeper to compensate for the eight (8) inches of organic soil that <br />will be placed on the bottom. The finished bottom elevation should consider the placement of <br />the organic material. <br /> <br />Division of Wildlife Comments: <br /> <br />The development of Hillside Estates meets with approval; however, wetland mitigation should <br />focus on restoration instead of creation by excavation. <br /> <br />The DNR appreciates the cooperation of you and your staff in reviewing the wetland replacement <br />project.
