<br />ELK RIVER ECONOMIC DEVELOP.MENT AUTHORITY <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />ELK RIVER PLANNING COMMISSION <br />WILLIA.'\1 RUBIN, EDA EXECUTI'\Tti'1\ \11-- <br />DIRECTOR '[7 \J <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />AUGUST 23, 1994 <br /> <br />SUBJECT: PUBLIC HEARING ON B-P BUSINESS <br />PARK REZONING <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />In mid-1993, the Elk River Economic Development Authority (EDA) <br />established a BusiriessParkTask Force. to . examine the community's <br />inventory of improved, industrially-zoned property and to bring forth <br />recommendations on how to best expand upon this inventory for future users. <br />One product of the Task Force has been the development of a B-P, Business <br />Park Ordinance for inclusion in Elk River's zoning code. This Ordinance was <br />subsequently adopted by the City Council in January, 1994. The TaskForce <br />has also looked at various development options which range from the private <br />sector - taking the lead in owning and marketing the next industrial <br />park/business park to the EDA developing a business park area as a public <br />endeavor. Financing these options has also been explored by the Task Force. <br /> <br />At its meeting on August 16, 1994, the Task Force discussed the proposed <br />rezoning of various sites in the western part of the community to reflect the. <br />B-P, Business Park designation. It was the consensus of the Task Force to <br />support the rezoning action. This memo is intended to convey the support of <br />the Task Force relative to the B-P rezoning.
