In mid-1993, the Elk River Economic Development Authority (EDA) established a BusiriessParkTask Force. to . examine the community's inventory of improved, industrially-zoned property and to bring forth recommendations on how to best expand upon this inventory for future users. One product of the Task Force has been the development of a B-P, Business Park Ordinance for inclusion in Elk River's zoning code. This Ordinance was subsequently adopted by the City Council in January, 1994. The TaskForce has also looked at various development options which range from the private sector - taking the lead in owning and marketing the next industrial park/business park to the EDA developing a business park area as a public endeavor. Financing these options has also been explored by the Task Force. At its meeting on August 16, 1994, the Task Force discussed the proposed rezoning of various sites in the western part of the community to reflect the. B-P, Business Park designation. It was the consensus of the Task Force to support the rezoning action. This memo is intended to convey the support of the Task Force relative to the B-P rezoning. A similar memo will be presented to the Elk River City Council when it conducts its public hearing on September19, 1994.
