4 Corridor Standards

Definition of Corridor Types

Corridor types defined in this study are generally based on the 2004
Transportation study and its roadway categories. Categories in this
study are based on city wide circulation function, intended traffic vol-
umes, and context (neighborhood, urban etc.) . The Corridors map (fig.
1), identifies the Study's categorization of corridor types. Only corri-
dors that the city has juridiction over are given standards.

Corridor Tvpes with defined standards include:

Local Street: Urban Residential & Cluster

Collector Residential: Urban & Cluster

Collector Minor: Urban

Collector Major: Urban

Cul-De-Sac with Internal island

Main Street

Local Street: Rural Residential
Collector Residential: Rural

Use of Corridor Standard Templates

Corridor Standards have been developed for each Corridor Type. These
standards are illustrated using a typical design template for each type.
Each template includes a typical street plan and section, a list of critical
design features labeled, and design dimensions given when appropiate.

These templates are designed to be used by City staff to understand
the important features of each type of corridor in Elk River. These tem-
plate can be used to guide future roadway designs and future roadway
improvements.

4: CORRIDOR STANDARDS

CORRIDOR STANDARDS
ELK RIVER
4-1
