Introduction

Consider a request by Furniture and Things located at 15612 Jarvis Street, for a General Planning
Permit to allow an outdoor sales tent in their parking lot.

Overview

Furniture and Things is requesting a General Planning Permit to locate a tent in their parking lot for
outdoor sales. The size of the tent is about 2,400 square feet (40' X 60') and will be up from May 8,
2007 through September 1, 2007.

The proposed location is near the front entrance to the store and will occupy about 5 parking
spaces. The location will not disrupt traffic flow nor does it create any parking problems. The tent
has been in the same location in past years and there have not been any problems.

Recommendation

Staff recommends approval of the General Planning Permit request for a temporary tent sale in the
parking lot of Furniture and Things, as indicated on the plans dated received April 16, 2007, with the
following conditions:
1. The tent and the area around the tent shall be maintained free of debris and kept in
an orderly condition.
2. No electrical services shall be across any drive or walking surface.
3. If traffic becomes a problem around the temporary site, the area shall be delineated
with a barrier to restrict traffic.
4. The location of the tent is consistent with the submitted site plan.
5. The tent shall be removed by September 7, 2007 and the site be returned to its
previous condition.

Respectfully Submitted

Sheila Cartney
Senior Planner

C:\Documents and Settings\jmiller\Local Setting;;\Tc:mporary Internet Files\OLK3E\CC report 5 7 07 (3).doc
