Most of the applicants were very
qualified. These applicants were narrowed down to 3 who were interviewed.

.

City staff is recommending that Dennis Anderson be hired to fill the position
of Building Inspector. Although Mr. Anderson has not been a building
inspector with a municipality in the past, he does have his State
Certification. In addition, Mr. Anderson is a master plumber and is well
versed in heating and air conditioning. This expertise would be a welcome
addition to the department.

The range offered for this position is from $13.82 per hour to $16.46 per hour.
Even at the top of the range it would mean a cut in pay to Mr. Anderson from
what he receives as a plumber. Staff is recommending his starting salary be
$15.96 per hour with the normal cost of living increase on January 1, 1995.
At the end of a one year orientation period, staff recommends he receives a 50
cent per hour increase and/or to the top of the range.

This is a good opportunity for the Building Department to not only gain a
certified inspector, but also add plumbing and heating expertise to the
department. We strongly recommend that he is hired.

.

cc-inspt-council
P.o. Box 490 · 13065 Orono Parkway. Elk River, MN 55330 . (612) 441-7420 · Fax: (612) 441-7425
