<br />RESOLUTION 07-_ <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ELK RIVER <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE STATE OF MINNESOTA TO <br />MODIFY MINNESOTA STATE STATUTE 169.14, SUBD. 2(a)(I);(c) TO <br />ALLOW CITIES TO ESTABLISH 30 MPH IN RURAL RESIDENTIAL <br />DISTRICTS <br /> <br />The City Council is the governing body of Elk River Minnesota; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Minnesota Statute 169.14, Subd. 2(a)(1) sets the maximum speed limit as <br />30 MPH in an urban district or on a town road in a rural residential district; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Elk River fInds that in the interest of public safety, that a speed <br />limit of 30 MPH should also be established in cities that have rural residential <br />streets; and <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Elk River, <br />Minnesota, that the State of Minnesota modify Minnesota State Statute 169.14, Subd. 2(a)(1); <br />(c) to be modifIed as follows: <br /> <br />. 169.14, Subd. 2(a)(1) - 30 miles per hour in a district in an urban district or <br />on a town or City street in a rural residential district. <br /> <br />. 169.14, Subd. 2( c) - for the purposes of this subdivision, "rural residential <br />district" means the territory contiguous to and including any town road or <br />City street within a subdivision or part of land that is built up with dwelling <br />houses at intervals of less than 300 feet for a distance of one -quarter mile or <br />more. <br /> <br />Passed and adopted this _ day of 2007. <br /> <br />Stephanie Klinzing, Mayor <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />Tina Allard, City Clerk <br />
