David Braslau' Associates Incorporated to conduct a noise assessment (enclosed) of our <br />facilities. in the city of Elk River. Among other things, the purpose of the assessment was to <br />(1) monitor noise levels from existing operations relative to Minnesota daytime noise <br />standards, (2) predict noise levels from future operations as equipment moves closer to <br />property boundaries and (3) detennine compliance with Minnesota's nighttime noise <br />standards. Following is a brief summary of the assessment. <br /> <br />Existin2 Operations <br />Noise levels from equipment that processes and washes sand and gravel was measured near <br />residences closest to the equipment. The noise levels measured show compliance with the <br />allowed state daytime noise standards. <br /> <br />Future Operations <br />As operations move toward the boundaries of the facility, equipment may be closer to <br />residences. Modeling was used to predict noise levels at different locations near residences. <br />The predicted noise levels also show compliance with the allowed state daytime noise <br />standards. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Compliance with Ni2httime Standards <br />The assessment shows that compliance with nighttime noise standards can be achieved with <br />slight modifications to existing conditions.
