<br />Community: <br /> <br />Community Type: <br />Qualitative Rank: <br /> <br />Additional <br /> <br />25-2N <br /> <br />Tamarack swamp <br />A - High quality natural community <br /> <br />Partially Drained/Ditched (d) <br /> <br />Field Check <br /> <br />Restoration Potential: <br />MCBS Site: Biodiversity <br /> <br />Visited part of the site <br /> <br />Threatened I <br />Endangered <br /> <br />Community Description: <br />This community occurs as part of a larger complex of tamarack communities/rich <br />fens and partially drained wetlands. The community is characterized by large to small <br />tamarack on floating mats in most areas, with no sphagnum evident at the locations <br />visited. The shrub and herbaceous species present are characteristic for a nice swamp. <br />There is good chance thatthis area supports unique and interesting plant species in <br />locations that were not available for the inventory. <br /> <br />Restoration Comments: <br />It may be worth investigating hydrologic restoration: <br /> <br />4- Community: 25-3N <br /> <br />Community Type: Oak forest <br /> <br />Qualitative Rank: C - Moderate condition natural community <br /> <br />Additional <br /> <br />Field Check Visited part of the site <br /> <br />Restoration Potential: Medium <br />MCBS Site: Biodiversity Threatened I <br />Endangered <br /> <br />Community Description: <br />Forest canopy is largely dominated by oaks, with aspen and other trees less common. <br />May have been grazed in the past. Relatively thick shrub layer of prickly ash in some <br />areas.
