-) . . -~, THE CITY OF ELK RIVER, MINNESOTA FIRE CHIEF/FIRE MARSHAL SALARY Up to $ experience. per month, depending upon qualifications and SCOPE OF JOB Plans and coordinates the administration of an effective and efficient Fire Department for the fire protection, fire suppression, and fire prevention of the property and residents in the City of Elk River and other areas contracted with the City of Elk River. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES Administration Plans the staffing, organization, and function of the volunteer personnel in order to ensure an efficient and effective program for fire prevention and protection. Administration Coordinates development of Fire Department budget. Reviews budget proposal with City Administrator for submission to City Council. Implements City Council approved operating budget and capital improvement budget. Administration - Establishes and maintains Mutual Aid Agreements with neighboring Fire Departments for response to emergencies as needed. Administration Reviews and evaluates all phases of the Volunteer Fire Department operation and training programs. Fire Suppression emergencies. Directs firefighters at scene of fires and Fire Suppression - Maintains department in a continual state of readiness in order to deal with emergency situations effectively. Fire Suppression - Attends conferences and schools in order to be informed of improved methods of fire prevention and suppression and to incorporate those new methods into the operation of the Department for its improved efficiency. Fire Suppression Maintains appropriate records on fire occurances, equipment, personnel, training, and all items relating to the Volunteer Fire Department. Fire Suppression Investigates complaints of fire regulations and issues corrective orders for violations when appropriate.
