<br /> <br />City of Elk River <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Agenda Section Meeting Date <br />En · eerin October 9, 2006 <br />Item Description <br />Wastewater Treatment Plant Master Plan Review <br /> <br />Item Number <br />5.4. <br />Prepared by <br />T e Maurer, Ci <br />Reviewed by <br /> <br /> <br />Introduction <br />At tonight's workshop, staff would like to make a brief presentation on the Wastewater <br />Treatment Plant (WWIP) Master Plan implementation that has been ongoing for a couple of <br />years. <br /> <br />Discussion <br />At the workshop, Bill Chang and John Stewart of BDM Consulting Engineers will have a <br />PowerPoint presentation on the WW1P Master Plan Implementation. Bill and John have been <br />the engineers working on the Elk River Wastewater Treatment Plant since the mid-1980's. The <br />Phase I Improvement Project begun a couple of years ago, is now complete. It included the <br />expansion of the head works portion of the WW1P. It is now time to consider beginning the <br />Phase II Improvement, which will add a mercwy reduction component to the WW1P and <br />expand the ultraviolet treatment system for the ultimate flow at the WW1P. In addition, Phase II <br />Improvements will also add emergency generation capabilities. <br /> <br />Financial Impact <br />It is estimated that the Phase II Improvement will cost approximately $4 million dollars. A more <br />detailed estimate will be prepared in the preliminary design phase. <br /> <br />Attachments <br /> <br />.
