The Community Development Department strives to promote, for the City of Elk River, a community lifestyle that demands environmental and culturally integrity, accessible public and private opportunities, continuous investment and the creation of a sense of place. Mission Statement II Mission Statement . To fulfill our vision, the Community Department mission encompasses five broad objectives: . As a top strategic priority the Department shall adopt a philosophy that anticipates and manages change. . To identify and achieve community goals and objectives, by establishing mechanisms that allows free communication and dialogue with boards, commissions, stakeholders and the general public. . To promote excellence in service to the community's residents, business owners and other local stakeholders. . To advocate for current and future residents, visitors and business partners in the community. . To encourage innovation and creativity in the development and redevelopment of Elk River's neighborhoods, business centers and the preservation of the natural environment. Redevelopment II Redevelopment - Means . The Community Development Department will advocate for redevelopment efforts resulting in prosperous, safe and identifiable residential and business neighborhoods, rejuvenated highway corridors, and reestablishing the downtown as a city center, in order to ensure continuous community investment and reinvestment. .
